Association for Promoting Sustainability in Campuses & Communities (APSCC)<\/strong><\/p>

APSCC is a professional organization committed to advancing sustainability across educational institutions and local communities, guided by the principle of intergenerational equity: \u201cAs members of the present generation, we hold the Earth in full trust for future generations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

APSCC supports higher educational institutions, schools, and other campuses in framing policies, implementing action-oriented research plans, and equipping students and staff with the skills and resources necessary to sustainably manage conservation projects. These projects address critical areas such as energy, water, waste, healthy food, and biodiversity, aligning with the global commitment outlined in the International Agenda: \u201cThe parties should protect the climate system for the benefit of present and future generations of humankind, on the basis of equity and in accordance with their common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

APSCC also plays a key role in contextualizing global sustainability frameworks to fit India\u2019s unique socio-environmental conditions. It provides a platform for national and international knowledge exchange, connecting professionals, companies, and organizations offering products and services in sustainable development. By developing innovative programs and distributing educational resources, APSCC fosters learning, training, networking, and capacity-building in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)<\/em>.<\/p>

At APSCC, we see sustainability as an evolving concept with a personal and community dimension. We believe in integrating social, economic, ecological, and environmental facets of sustainability to empower the next generation of leaders for holistic prosperity. Inspired by the Rio Declaration\u2019s Precautionary Principle 15<\/em>, we emphasize proactive measures to prevent environmental degradation, even amid scientific uncertainties. Drawing lessons from natural ecosystems, we champion interdependence, flexibility, diversity, and partnerships to ensure resilience and adaptability.<\/p>

Recognizing the environment as a silent stakeholder, APSCC aligns its initiatives with global frameworks such as Agenda 21 and the Millennium Development Goals, focusing on mitigating climate change and fostering sustainable development. By promoting innovative, environmentally responsible practices, APSCC aims to restore, conserve, and protect the planet for current and future generations.<\/p>

APSCC envisions a world where campuses and communities are environmentally, ecologically and economically sustainable by successfully addressing all the challenges at a more decentralized level, ensuring that due recognition is given to the role of education and research in the promotion of sustainable development.<\/p>

Mission<\/strong><\/p>

The formation of APSCC is to serve as an impetus, not-for-profit, and voluntary organization for sustainable development in conservation strategies, programs and projects pertaining to water, energy, waste, healthy food and biodiversity among the educational institutions and local communities based on the principle \u201cthe right to development must be fulfilled so as to equitably meet developmental and environmental needs of present and future generations\u201d. <\/em>We do this by providing resources, initiating and promoting sustainable innovations at grassroots level in collaboration with a network of eminent sustainability professionals across the globe.<\/p>

Goals and Objectives<\/strong><\/p>

  1. Support educational institutions, industries, and communities with environmental sustainability through awareness, capacity building, and research.<\/li>
  2. Enhance biodiversity conservation<\/strong> and ecosystem services (forests, wetlands, and wildlife).<\/li>
  3. Promote sustainability in water management<\/strong> (groundwater, surface water, and rainwater).<\/li>
  4. Foster innovation in waste management<\/strong> (solid and liquid waste).<\/li>
  5. Advance energy management<\/strong> (energy saving, clean energy production, and waste-to-energy projects).<\/li>
  6. Ensure food security<\/strong> through traditional, organic, and healthy food systems.<\/li>
  7. Empower marginalized communities through training, capacity building<\/strong>, and technological support to improve quality of life.<\/li><\/ol>
