Ready, Set, Plant!
APSCC had the privilege of being invited as a chief guest for a significant tree planting event held at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Government Higher Secondary School in Kirumampakkam. The event, presided over by Mr. M. Kandaswamy, the esteemed minister for Pollution Control, Science, Technology, and Environment of the Government of Puducherry, saw the active participation of student and staff volunteers who collectively planted hundreds of native tree saplings. APSCC’s presence at the event emphasized its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability, inspiring the school community to take concrete steps towards a greener and healthier future.

Background of the Event:
The Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) recently notified the new Waste Management Rules (2016). These will replace the existing Rules, which have been in place for the past several years. The new rules are now applicable beyond municipal areas and have included urban agglomerations, census towns, notified industrial townships, areas under the control of Indian Railways, airports, special economic zones, places of pilgrimage, religious and historical importance, and State and Central Government organizations in their ambit.
In view of this, the Puducherry “State Level Awareness Program on Sustainable Waste Management – 2017-18 (SLAPSWM)”, is being organized by the Association for Promoting Sustainability in Campuses and Communities (APSCC) under the auspices of the Department of Science, Technology & Environment (DSTE), Puducherry Pollution Control Committee (PPCC), Government of Puducherry and Pondicherry Central University (PU).
Event Timings: The event is for a half day between 1:30 pm – 6:00 pm. There are in total 30 batches.

4th IBC Drawing Contest Gallery
APSCC proudly partnered with the 4th IBC Drawing Contest, an initiative aimed at engaging school children on the vital theme of environment. The contest provided a platform for young minds to showcase their creativity and raise awareness about environmental issues. Through this collaboration, APSCC demonstrated its commitment to promoting environmental consciousness and sustainability among the future generation. The event garnered enthusiastic participation from students, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment and inspiring them to become proactive stewards of nature.
Summer Vacation Science Camp – 2017
APSCC team contributed as resource persons in the Summer Vacation Science Camp held on 03-05-2017 to 31-05-2017 at Dr.Abdul Kalam Science Centre and Planetarium, Lawspet, Puducherry. The event attracted more than 100 students from multiple schools and was organized by the Puducherry Council for Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Puducherry.
