Held on 28 September 2021 and organised by The Economic Times, the summit brought together policymakers, corporate leaders, investors and sustainability practitioners to explore how ESG frameworks can accelerate progress toward the SDGs. As a supporting association, APSCC promoted and advocated for sustainability across campuses and communities throughout the event.

Setting the agenda

The programme opened with a keynote on “Championing Profitable and Sustainable Business”, followed by a ministerial address on “Enrich 2030: The ESG and Net Zero Future” and a chief-guest address on “Building Back Better for All” — framing sustainability as both an economic and social imperative for the decade ahead.

The inaugural CEO Panel — Leadership Matters convened business leaders around accelerating the low-carbon transition and integrating ESG into core business strategy, while high-level dialogues examined national net-zero commitments and the challenge of embedding sustainability within development policy.

Trends, reports and dialogues

A dedicated session on the Top 10 ESG Trends spotlighted climate change, diversity & inclusion, ESG investing and governance innovation. The summit also marked the launch of the ET & Futurescape 8th Sustainability Index Report, alongside spotlight talks on “Supporting Recovery Through Safe and Clean Water” and “Pathways for Net-Zero Carbon Emissions”.

An Investors’ Dialogue tackled ESG data gaps, climate-risk pricing and regulatory benchmarking, while a session on technological innovation surveyed geospatial tools and resource-recovery systems now driving sustainable outcomes. The summit closed with “Making Net Zero Possible”, setting out comprehensive strategies for achieving net-zero emissions.

Aligned with the SDGs

The summit’s ESG-to-SDG framing aligned closely with the following Sustainable Development Goals — connecting decent work and economic growth, responsible production, climate action and global partnerships:

Profitable business and a sustainable future are not competing paths but connected ones — the journey from ESG to the SDGs is a single road to a better future for all.
